A planning update: The countdown continues...

In exactly 4 months it will be my wedding day, and I will be in a, hopefully, sunny Greece with my closest family & friends getting ready for the biggest day of my life.

I'll be honest the last week or so of planning has had its ups and downs. There's been a few stressful moments caused by lack of communication and detail from a couple of suppliers. But I've also had the pleasure of working with some other wonderful suppliers, who are making me feel so completely special and sharing in the excitement of our big day with us.

I have now ordered my bouquet. I'm not a flowers kind of girl. Apart from the floral bouquets that cost the earth, I've never really been wowed by flowers or flowers at the weddings I've been to (of course if I had a massive budget I'm sure I could find something that lived up to my demands, but I don't see the point when we can't really bring them back with us!) Anyway, as you know I read lots of wedding magazines and blogs, and I recently came across a wonderful thing called a 'brooch bouquet' quite simply it is a bouquet made out of brooches. I know! And I am lucky enough to be in contact with the very wonderful and sparkly making goddess, Sarah Marks of Tiny Gems via Twitter (@hhjtinygems) Sarah posted a picture of her beautiful Heirloom Bouquet and that was that, we discussed what I was looking for and mine was ordered. Sarah also came up with a great idea of incorporating some family pieces in the bouquet. So I'm totally running with that and have both our Mum's on the case. It will be so lovely to have something that we can keep and hand down the generations - hopefully adding pieces as the years go by.

I can't wait to see what Sarah comes up with. These are some of the designs I've seen that I love...

I have also been speaking to the very lovely and creative genius that is Jane Midgley from Caterpillar Dreams. Jane designs and makes, by hand, couture tutus. A recommendation via Twitter (@caterpiladreams).

I spotted this post on Green Wedding Shoes Blog and this picture of flower girls inspired me.

The girls look like they're having so much fun. And I know my flower girls love playing dress up so I posted the picture on Twitter and someone recommended I get in touch with Jane. So I did. Again, Jane and I discussed the type of wedding we're having, colours, themes, style etc and Jane has now drawn up some suggestions for my flower girls. Including fairy wings and corsages! Which are en route. I can't wait to see what she's come up with.

This is an image of a tutu from Jane's collection...
How cute!?

And this is the kind of look I have in mind for the flower girls.

(I can't remember where I found this image, but I had to post it because I love it so much. If you know where it's from let me know and I'll post a link)

AND, I have also booked my Rock The Frock session with the utterly amazing Chris Barber Media - Chris and Dani, a husband and wife photography team, have been the creative hands behind so many stunning engagement shoots and wedding day images. When another Twitter buddy of mine (@tattybojangles) recommended them after having her engagement and wedding photography by them, I made sure I got them booked up. It's taking place on Friday 11th June, once we get back from Greece (as husband and wife! hehe!) And I just can't wait to see what they come up with for us. Check out their amazing website and all the gorgeous photos they've taken. They are also lovely, lovely people and I really can't wait to work with them both. Eeeek!

The gorgeous Dani and Chris from @CBMedia - go check 'um out

You may have also noticed the ongoing saga of trying to find my wedding shoes! In that I can't find any that meet the budget I have. Well, yesterday I received a tweet from @YBDFashion the Twitter account for the amazing Young British Designers website. A fashion site where you can buy beautiful items from the latest talent in British fashion design. From dresses and shoes to jewellery and bags - it is a gush worthy site and totally worth checking out. I'm forever drooling and dreaming over their daily tweets of what the team are wearing. Anyway, yesterday I had the following Tweet after gushing over another pair of shoes on the site, it read:

@YBDFashion 'If you find a pair for SS you'd like to get wed in then we'd love to oblige... ;) (our gift)...'

After reading and reading again just to make sure my eye's weren't deceiving me. I finally tweeted back. I couldn't believe someone was being so generous to little ol' me. I couldn't believe my luck. I think I'm still in shock now. The lovely Debra at @YBDFashion has sent over some stunning designs by the talented designer Sophie Gittins - I mean just go and check out the shoes on Young British Designers and you'll see the amazing collection they stock. I am honestly still in shock. A British Manolo Blahnik as she is so rightly known.

Sophie's creations! (Eeeek!)

How I'm going to choose from the amazing selection I really don't know. But I do know that I feel like the luckiest lady in the world right now.

And so, after a few weeks of my patience being tried and a lot of worrying that we'd made the right decision about getting married abroad, everything is now sorted and we're finally making some real progress. We've made decisions over every element of the day. And have the final list of 'what's left to buy' Once we have the final package cost confirmed by the company booking things in Greece and we've sent off the documentation needed to actually get married, we'll be pretty much there - with just a few details to arrange.

Next Saturday Mum and I are off for a girlie weekend away in Tunbridge Wells to see the super talented sparkly Rebecca the genius behind award winning designer Chez Bec, where I hope to find the solution to my hair decoration! I'm also hoping that Bec will be able to design me my very own bespoke necklace. But I'll let you know all about that when I get back.

And so, all that's left is this...
