I'm not really one for experimenting with different up dos, the only time I tie my hair up is when I can't be bothered to wash it, and even then it's a lazy bun, or messy ponytail. I've got a full-fringe and since the engagement I've been growing out a shorter style so at the moment my hair is a bit of a non-style.
In my search for the perfect 'do' I've seen some gorgeous wedding hair; from sleek buns and glam 50's waves to long and loose dishevelled dos - and everything in between.
Because I wear the same style most days, I'm feeling quite excited because whatever I have is going to look completely different from my everyday look.
I'm not much of a traditional gal, so I'm looking for modern styles that are more 'me'. The only problem that comes with not being used to having my hair up is that it feels strange when it's off my face, so I don't want anything too fiddly that I'm going to be conscious of on the day.
I'm lucky enough that my actual hairdresser is also one of my best friends and my Mum was also a hairdresser so they're both a dab-hand when it comes to up dos. Because I have no idea what to do with my hair, we've already started experimenting with different styles:
I absolutely love the fishtail plait, so this was our first 'trial' (Fearne and Leona pic from Look Magazine) - plaits have been a big trend for wedding hair this year and they're surprisingly easy to achieve (with a bit of practice!) Check out this link to a You Tube video, with a full demonstration on how to do a fishtail plait.
I don't think my hair's going to get much longer than it is now so I've bought some clip in hair extensions from a shop called 'Fly Girls' in Worcester. It has made such a difference to the look of the styles we've been experimenting with. Adding volume and length, giving us so many more options. And because they're clip on, they're not going to ruin my hair, and I don't have to worry about maintaining them while we're out in Greece.
We're still a long way from deciding what the 'do' is going to be. But for now, I'm really enjoying practicing with different styles. xx
